I hosted the Ponterwyd Art Club evening last night. Using sketching pencils we discussed their respective qualities, uses and had fun making the following library of marks.

This weeks Ponterwyd Art Club Challenge was to paint using coffee. I did two small paintings. I don’t drink coffee and found the smell overpowering. Here are my paintings, I don’t know how long the image will stay clear before it fades.

Limited to 5 mile journey in Wales for non essential travel. I need to travel 12 miles to shop, so when I do my shopping, I take a walk to the seafront.
Collage is an assemblage, a piece of art made by sticking together a variety of materials. It began when paper was invented in China 200BC.

Henri Mattise used scissors to create art.

Lockdown proved an even less stimulating time for art in the form of painting. We had just started back to Art Club Ponterwyd after the winter break when it happened.
I had an invitation from Cefn Croes Winfarm Trust to trial meetings on Zoom. Trepidation followed, I love ICT but am always wary of new innovations. I canvassed the membership, got invitations sent out and panicked. Now friends from my teaching days may not associate that word with me, I was always good at hiding panic. The meeting drew near and it worked. Basically we had a verbal ball. We talked about the future and I set a challenge. Inside outside picture medium of individual choice. Taken from work I had seen by David Hockney and Cornish artist Sarah Bowman.
I set the challenge so I had to do the work too. I started with my little blue jug from the windowsill.

When lockdown started I found it difficult to concentrate, I simply couldn’t settle.
A friend was short of wool for her project, I decided to open my wool stash. The nearest bag yielded some of what she was after and lots of crochet cotton from when I made flowers.
I looked for patterns, couldn’t find anything so decided to look on you tube. I typed in shell stitch as it was a favourite for making baby blankets, my mother used to do them. Found a pattern with an American accent, struggled at first to follow her instructions but this is what followed

I still have more crochet cotton in the stash, proving stashing is good practice and should be maintained. Lots of mine was bought as odd balls on offer and some from charity/goodwill shops
